Plan B marine solutions was founded in 2016 by Bas Coppes a salvage, marine and offshore specialist with strong technical, contractual, commercial and operational skills. He is a graduate of the  Maritime Institute de Ruijter with a double degree in Nautical Science and Engineering who spend several years onboard the famous Dutch ocean going salvage tugs and hopper dredges.

Upon returning to shore worked for Damen Shiprepair as a proposal engineer. The inevitable return to sea came in the way of joining SMIT Salvage as a salvage master.

During the Katrina & Rita hurricane year of 2005 he was involved in major salvage operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

​

In 2007 he joined Mammoet Salvage as a commercial manager and as president founded Mammoet Salvage Americas, located in Houston, in 2010.

​

As president of Mammoet Salvage Americas he was responsible for the acquisition and execution of all the salvage and wreck removal projects throughout the Americas and the overall result of the company.

​

In this role he was responsible for one of the biggest and most challenging salvage operation in Mexico.

​

In 2017 joined Global Diving & Salvage, Inc and was heavily involved in securing the hurricane recovery works from Hurricane Harvey and Irma in 2017 in 2018 alongside the United States Coast Guard and wreck removal contracts in the Galapagos and in British Columbia.
